A Little Life Update

This is a special blog post because it is the first where I can say that I am typing as Mrs. Galeote. Elí and I have been married for just over a month and we are settling into this new stage in life. For the same reason, my heart has been dwelling on community and transition. Some themes you will see in upcoming posts. But for today I wanted to leave you with something simple.

I recently read a book by Emily P. Freeman titled The Next Right Thing. It’s a book about decision-making, but it is also about making changes to how we live our lives. A big theme of the book is taking time to reflect on our week, our month, or our season. And Emily does a monthly reflection on her Instagram called ‘These are the days.’ I think it is a wonderful way to show what’s been happening in our lives. This is what I am going to do today, and I invite you to do your own after reading this one. Also if you are on Instagram, I encourage you to look up Emily’s profile for some more examples and regular inspiration.

These are the days….

These are the days of learning to be a Mrs. instead of a Ms.

These are the days of falling in love with fiction again.

These are the days of hot, hot weather and no air conditioning or rain.

These are the days of taking photos, writing poems, and soaking in life-giving things.

These are the days of making hard decisions and discovering some new difficulties.

These are the days of learning what love means in the context of marriage. And of feeling overwhelming gratitude for a good gift finally given after many years of waiting.

These are the days of simplistic writing that fills my heart and soul.

What days are these for you? What special memories do you hold of the last month? What good things or hard things defined some of the moments you have walked through in this season? If you feel like writing your own ‘These are the days’ I would love for you to share it with me!

Thanks for reading, friend. I hope this day brings you peace. That His presence brings you joy. And that these are the days of many good things in your life and in your heart.
